What exactly are Retainers?

Around the level 20 mark in the main story quest chain, you'll unlock the ability to employ your very own Retainer. All these are custom-made NPCs who will store excess items, sell items for you around the Cheap FF14 Gil market and even be shipped off on adventures of their own with Ventures. Once you unlock Retainers, then you'll want to head into the Retainer Vocate in almost any significant city. There, you'll get to customise them just as you did with your character, assign them a personality, and provide them a special name.

With a list area of 175 slots, they have room to hold plenty of items; even untradable ones. You could even save Gil on them too. Using these to sell things on the market will send some Gil directly for their storage for one to pick up later.

Retainer Ventures are all mini-missions which you are able to send your useful servant on. You can equip your Retainer with gear just like your self, from battle classes and gathering classes. The better stats that they have, the better rewards they'll be able to have from ventures.

These can benefit you with things related to the venture itself, e.g. Hunting will give you items that are observed on slain creatures, whereas Botany will provide wood and plant material. There is also Exploration variants of four assignment types, which take a lot more time to finish, but provide your Retainer a whole lot more experience before completion; perfect to set up before going to bed. The Quick Exploration partnership is the final of the whole lot - it'll send out your Retainer to go and fetch a single thing, but that thing can be just about anything : from crap, furniture, to end-game gear.

The final of ffxiv gil buy's weird vocabulary is Spiritbonding and Materia - both extremely useful to just about any adventurer. In essence, Spiritbonding is the action of creating Materia from gear, and Materia is used to fortify gear to give it additional stats; think gems in warcraft.
